How this list is made

  • Week 3 is the latest week with every game played. Each player's week 3 is compared with all his games before it this season (weeks 1–2). Only players with a target, carry or pass play in week 3 and in at least one earlier game are compared, so a missed game never counts as a drop to zero.
  • Shares are of his team's totals in the games he played, as everywhere on the site. The change is the gap between the two percentages shown, in percentage points: 12% to 39% is 27 points. Red-zone chances compare his week 3 count with his average a game before it.
  • Snap counts aren't in this data, so a low share can mean he played fewer snaps: a backup, a player coming back from injury, or one who got hurt during a game. Cards point this out when the lower share is under 10% and he also had less than half as many targets and carries a game in those games.
  • Injury notes come from the report's talking points and the official injury report in the data. They give context; they don't prove why a role changed.
  • This describes what happened. It isn't a prediction, and it isn't advice on who to start, add or drop.
